Join us for pizza and fun!

Social Security: When and How to Take It

When and how you take Social Security may seem like a straightforward decision but it is not.  The wrong decision may cost you tens of thousands of dollars.  Even if you’ve made a decision, you may still be able to receive more money.  Join us on Tuesday, July 26th at 7:30 when Adam Stock of The Next Level Planning Group presents Social Security: When and How to Take it to Maximize Your Benefit. He will teach you the ins and outs of your Social Security, including how one Wilmette resident received an additional $45,120.

Wordplaygrounds Wraps Up

This summer, teenagers have been writing and reading poetry at our Wordplaygrounds program. You can see the delightful results at the Wordplaygrounds blog. Thanks to John O'Connor, Bob Boone and all of our young poets for making this program such a tremendous success! Also, thanks to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring this great new program.

Michelangelo: Evolution of a Renaissance Sculptor

Join us on Tuesday, July 19, at 7:00 p.m. when art historian Dr. Michelle Mishur returns to the library to present a program about Michelangelo's sculptures. Examples of early works by Michelangelo, including La Pietà and David, will be considered, as well as later examples such as the Tomb of Julius II in Rome. Dr. Mishur also will discuss in detail Michelangelo’s process for making sculpture and provide historical context for the works. The Vatican will be loaning an official copy of Michelangelo’s Pietà to a Chicago area church, making our Michelangelo: Evolution of a Renaissance Sculptor program particularly topical.
