A Goodbye Thanks to Books on Vernon

IMG 3254

This week marks the end of a wonderful era here in Glencoe. A supporter of the library and host for many of our BookNews discussions will be closing at the end of June. Linda was gracious to host library events and in posing for this picture she even donated a Curious George yellow hat! We are excited to continue the Booknews discussion at the library, and save the date for our next session, September 14th, 2016. More information will be posted as we draw nearer to the date.

Untitled

June/Summer edition of Excerpts is here!

This summer, programs galore are at the library! Come entertain yourself and the family as we offer reading clubs, programs and classes for all.

This edition of Excerpts highlights our summer offerings, especially our reading clubs. Our Young Adult Reading club kicks off May 25h, while the children and adult clubs start June 1st. This summer also launches our Sunday open hours year round! That's right, we now are open year round on Sundays, from 1-5 PM. What better way to celebrate than having Culvers' Ice Cream at the library on June 5th for our Ice Cream Social. June also starts our summer with great programming for all. We have our Visiting Professors series discussing Lake Superior, learn all about the trend of downsizing, learn about the Persepolis, and the Chinese Terracotta Warriors. Also in June is our Friends Book Sale, a great family program about Smoky the War Hero Dog. July rolls in with some hot programs as well! Learn about the International Crane Foundation, College Essay writing tips, and for teens our Books & Brunch. Kids will have a bang this summer as we welcome in live animals for our Mammals and More. Can't have enough parties either, Color Splash Party celebrates with art on the Wyman Green outside of the library. Back to school around the corner means our Pre-School Party is back! We will have one in July and August. Love music and science, well we've got your covered. Minecraft Clubs kick off in July, along with our own Hands on Science week July12-16. Plenty of entertainment all summer long, so mark your calendars
